One of our early volunteers at Ross Bay Villa passed away on October 19, 2015.
Roger Burgess helped out in the very first years of the Restoration Committee. Among other tasks, he drew up plans for the footings of the posts in the new foundation; assisted with the on-site research to determine the original 1865 roof (split shingles); and, for a time, chaired the Restoration Committee, when the whole project still seemed daunting.
Roger only left Ross Bay Villa when he and his family moved north to Mill Bay (where he naturally went on to work on other restoration and conservation projects).
We were distressed to hear of his short illness and too-early passing, and remember his contributions fondly. Roger’s work carries on in the now-restored Ross Bay Villa.
We all send our thoughts and best wishes to his family at this time.
